SFA Stars Shine as Team Goa Finish 1st Runner-Up at Khelo India Beach Games

Team Goa delivered a stellar performance at the 1st Khelo India Beach Games held at Ghogla Beach, Diu, finishing as 1st Runner-Up after a thrilling campaign. The team, comprising Sesa Football Academy’s Technical Director Gavin Araujo and players Sachidanand Satelkar, Cain Fernandes, and Chaitan Dabolkar, showcased remarkable skill, teamwork, and resilience, defeating Lakshadweep 3-2 in the semi-finals before putting up a spirited fight against Kerala in the Finals.

#SFALionesses Script History-Storm into IWL 2 Playoffs

The Sesa Football Academy (SFA) Senior Women’s Team made a grand & victorious debut at the Indian Women’s League-2 (IWL2). Demonstrating an attacking & exciting brand of football, the #SFALionesses stormed past the fancied opposition to make it to the ‘Play-offs’ of the IWL2. Enroute, the Team also topped the Group Stage, netting 13 goals in four matches against seasoned opposition.

The #SFALionesses were first-time entrants in the prestigious IWL2 and stood out for their tenacious and free-flowing brand of football. Displaying no nerves on playing at the ‘big stage’ the current Vedanta Women’s League ‘champions’ stamped their class throughout the group phase of the IWL-2. Among the standout performers, Pushpa Parab has been a relentless force up front, and Sushmita, the Team Captain, led the team with incredible poise, & inspirational leadership. Ria Rajesh was a ‘wall too high’ and guarded the SFA net with incredible reflexes & courage, contributing to the +10 Goal Difference for the #SFALionesses.

Scripting a historic chapter in Goan women’s football, the Sesa Football Academy (SFA) Senior Women’s Team wrapped up their debut Indian Women’s League-2 (IWL2) campaign with a proud third-place finish on the national stage. As the only team from Goa to reach the IWL2 Playoffs, the #SFALionesses have left an inspiring mark in their maiden appearance.

Despite the intense competition, the team showed immense heart, composure, and tactical growth throughout the elite-level Tournament. Stand out performances from Pushpa Parab, Flani Costa, Sushmita Jadhav & Rizella Cia Almeida headlined the Team’s performance. A special mention goes to Laura Estebeiro, who, at 45, epitomizes true grit & team spirit & adds to the experience quotient of the #SFALIonesses.

We Are the Champions! SFA Conquers 8th Vedanta Women’s League

SFA Senior Women’s Team created history by being crowned ‘Champions’ of the 8th Vedanta Women’s League (VWL). This is the #SFALionesses’ maiden championship victory, in only their second year in the League. Maintaining an ‘all win’ record’, and scoring 47 goals with only 4 against, the ‘Champions’ established themselves as a dominant force in women’s football in Goa.

The six-team 8th VWL culminated in a grand prize-distribution ceremony, graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Alexio Lourenco, Hon’ble MLA for Curtorim Constituency, Dr. Caitano Fernandes, President-Goa Football Association (GFA), Ms. Maymol Rocky, Chairman, GFA Women’s Committee Mr. Antonio Pango, Vice-President, GFA alongside officials from Vedanta Sesa Goa.

#SFALionesses Continue Winning Run, Lift Curtorim Women’s Soccer Tournament

The #SFALionesses, the newly crowned ‘Champions’ at the Vedanta Women’s League, continued their excellent run of form by winning the ‘Batora United Curtorim Women’s Soccer Tournament’ . Outplaying Livvals SC 1-0 in a high class and tactically asture finals at Curtorim, Goa, the #SFALionesses capped an unbeaten run with a perfec flourish. Sushmita Jadhav of SFA won the coveted ‘Player of the Match’ & the ‘Player of the Tournament’ honors, while Rhea Pires & Ashika Gadekar, also of SFA, were adjudged the ‘Best Defender’ & ‘Best Goalkeeper’ respectively.

SFA U-17 Crowned Dream Sports Champions, Secure National Finals Berth

The SFA U-17 team emphatically won the ‘U-17 Dream Sports Championships’, defeating Dempo SC 4-2 (2-2 regulation time) in a gripping finale held at Guirim, Goa. Led by Captain Granville Fernandes, the team remained unbeaten in the six team tournament, featuring top Goan clubs. The triumph at the ’Regional Finals’ secures a direct entry for the SFA U-17 lads into the ‘National Finals’ in April 2025.

Sesa Football Academy (SFA) made its mark at the National Games 2025, with Head Coach Charles Dias, Goalkeeping Coach Jason D’Mello, and eight SFA players representing Team Goa at the prestigious national sporting event.

The #SFAVengers who donned the Goa colours were Clive Miranda (Captain, Goa State Team), Shridharnath Gawas, Clencio Pinto, Chaitan Dabholkar, Kirtikesh Gadekar, Faheez Mohammad, Sachidanand Satelkar, and Omkar Shetgaonkar

Their selection reflected SFA’s continued commitment to nurturing high-quality football talent and contributing to the growth of the sport across Goa and beyond.

SFA Make Their Mark in I-League 3 2024–25

Sesa Football Academy made a strong statement in the I-League 3 2024–25 season, finishing at the top of Pool B in Stage 1 with an unbeaten run.

The SFA side displayed composure, skill and determination throughout the league fixtures, performing admirably against fancied opponents and remaining unbeaten.

In the I-League 3 Playoffs, SFA began with a commanding victory over Downtown Heroes. In their maiden playoff appearance, the team showcased its talent, competitive spirit and resilience against seasoned opponents. While the results in the playoffs were mixed, the campaign marked an important milestone in SFA’s journey and reflected the team’s continued growth on the national stage.
