On National Sports Day, observed every year on 29 August in honour of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited (VISL) reaffirmed its commitment to the government’s vision of “Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat,” spotlighting two of its longest-running grassroots sporting initiatives, the Sesa Football Academy in Goa and the Vedanta ESL Archery Academy in Jharkhand, which together have given hundreds of young athletes from rural and mining-belt communities a genuine pathway from grassroots participation to national and international competition.
SFA Strengthens National Footprint with AIFF Three-Star Accreditation
Reinforcing its position as one of Goa & India’s leading football development institutions, Sesa Football Academy (SFA), the flagship CSR initiative of Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited (VISL), has achieved two significant milestones. The Academy has been awarded the prestigious AIFF Three-Star Academy Accreditation for 2026–27 for the second time, while academy striker Shiva Kumar earned a call-up for the India U-15 Boys National Team trials, reaffirming SFA’s continued contribution to Indian football.

SFA Organises AFC ‘C’ License Course for Coaches from Across India
Sesa Football Academy (SFA), the flagship CSR initiative of Vedanta Sesa Goa, successfully concluded the AFC ‘C’ License Course aimed at providing structured training know-how to aspiring coaches from across India. This is the fourth such course conducted by SFA since 2024 with 80+ individuals having gone through the curriculum.
